The Law Of Attraction, The Golden Dawn & Energy Healing

February 5, 2014

By Robert Zink
G.H. Frater P.D.R.

The Ruach Healing Method, a Golden Dawn method of healing and energy work.

The Sphere of Sensation of the human body.

Hermes states, as above so below. The Law of Attraction finds it’s roots in the ancient teachings of Hermes Trimegestus and the Emerald Tablet. This ancient document provides the basis of knowledge for all magical, metaphysical and even spiritual healing. It is the Law of Attraction and the reality that likes attract likes which allows us to create an inner reality of health and wellness, then have it reflected into the physical plane. Without getting too esoteric let me make this whole concept easier to understand. All we need to do is look at this simple yet profound sentence that come from the Emerald Tablet. The profound sentence is as follows: “As Above so Below.”
There are a multitude of interpretations/translations to the Emerald Tablet. Keeping this in minds, suffice to say, a workable and usable interpretation of the Emerald Tablet is “that which we create in the higher planes of reality, must manifest in the lower planes of the physical world”. This is exactly what you do as a Energy Healer, you work in the energy field of the patient and thus are working in the higher planes of reality in regard to the patient.
This is a simple concept but difficult for some to get a grasp on. I remember when a noted Golden Dawn leader began laughing on the internet and calling me a “New Age Golden Dawn Guru”. He argued that this whole concept was from the new age movement and had nothing to do with the Golden Dawn or the teachings of Hermetics. I strongly disagree.
I believe the Law of Attraction is the cornerstone of how the Magic of Light works, initiation, and or anything else that has a spiritual/physical counterpart. Naturally the Law of Attraction is the foundation of how all forms of esoteric or spiritual healing work. Think of this…..If there is no higher reality that expresses itself as the aura or energy field, if the only thing that exists is the body, then all we are doing is playing a mental game with ourselves. On the other hand, if healing a tear in the aura of a patient has a profound affect on a bleeding cut, and the bleeding slows down or stops, then we have employed the very basis of the Law of Attraction. Healings like the one just mentioned are the RULE, not the exception.
One prolific author who wrote about the Law of Attraction was one of the Chief Adepts in the Golden Dawn Temple in Chicago in the 1920′s. His name was William Walker Atkinson (1862-1932). Atkinson was one of the Three Initiates who wrote what has almost become the modern day bible of modern Hermetics. That book is a must read for anyone interested in the Law of Attraction and Hermetics. The books is called The Kybalion (1908). After over 50 years this book is still in print; showing the timelessness of the truth contained in it’s pages. Atkinson coined the phrase “Thought, Vibration and the Law of Attraction.”
master thoughtsThe whole idea that Atkinson and others claim is that our thoughts have incredible power to create the reality we seek. In other words, if we think about health and vitality, we tend to attract health and vitality and vice verse. This is a cornerstone teaching in almost every mystery school. The more you think about something the more energy is put into manifesting that thought. Again we see the concept of “As above, so below”.
This fundamental truth applies to every area of our lives. The way we think affects our mental state, our physical health, as well as, our wealth. It is absolutely critical that every Energy Healer of any healing method have a basic understanding of the Law of Attraction. It is essential that as Energy Healers we never allow ourselves to draw limitations on the universe’s ability to heal anyone of any condition at anytime.
Another famous Adept of the Golden Dawn tradition is the late Israel Regardie. He is most famous for his book called The Golden Dawn. Regardie was a proponent of the Law of Attraction and wrote about it in his 1937 book called, The Art of True Healing: A Treatise on the Mechanism of Prayer and the Operation of the Law of Attraction in Nature. In this book he shares with his readers a meditation designed to help the mind heal itself! Regardie claimed that the Law of Attraction was not only a valid method for attracting good physical health, but that the Law of Attraction was equally good for empowering other aspects of one’s life. I personally would agree with Regardie and simply add that there cannot be any healing if the constructs of the Law of Attraction are not employed. All good Energy Healers invoke the power of the Law of Attraction in their healing even if they are not aware of it. I as an Energy Healer with a Golden Dawn background join Atkinson and Regardie in embracing how the Law of Attraction and true healing go hand in hand.
Certainly there are others who do not have a magical or Hermetic background that have been active advocates in regard to the power of the Law of Attraction. This may be one of the most revealing things about the Law of Attraction; that it’s concepts are not limited to one group of people or another. People from every belief system seem to find a way to connect to the concept of the Law of Attraction, especially if healing is involved.
One of these people is Wallace D. Wattles. Wattles in his famous book The Science of Getting Rich (1910) explains to his reader that, the mere act of simply believing in the object of your desire and focusing on it will lead to that object or goals being realized. Wattles also explains that negative thoughts lead to negative results. If Wattles is correct, and I certainly believe he is, then every thought our patients think about themselves and their physical health likely has played a significant role in their Dis-ease. In other words, they are attracting into their physical bodies the very sickness they seek to rid themselves of. To take this a step further, every thought we think about our patients has a powerful and even lasting impact on them. This is why it is critical that the Energy Healer learn to control his or her thoughts at all times.
Perhaps the most famous of all the books that have the Law of Attraction as its cornerstone is Napoleon Hill’s book called Think and Grow Rich (1928). This book continues to be one of the top selling books on the use of the mind in the attraction of wealth. The book has sold over 60 million copies. The same principals that are employed for attracting wealth can and should be applied to the subject of healing. This book is as much about the subject of healing as it is about wealth accumulation. Hill insisted on the importance of controlling one’s own thoughts in order to achieve success, as well as, control the energy that thoughts have and their ability to attract other thoughts.
In recent times, we have seen a plethora of books on the subjects of thoughts, attraction and healing. For example The Secret (2006) by Rhoda Byrne. This book is very much influenced by Wallace Wattles 1910 book The Science of Getting Rich, which Byrne received from her daughter during a time of personal trauma. Another example is Esther and Jerry Hicks and their New York times best seller called, Money, and the Law of Attraction: Learning to Attract Health, Wealth and Happiness (2007). All of these books teach about the power of our thoughts and what we can learn to manifest if we develop control of our thought.
You may be saying to yourself, this is all very interesting but what does this have to do with the healing. The answer is simple. Your thoughts as an Energy Healer must be focused on a target. I believe you must hold that target in your mind with crystal clear vision. When I begin performing healing on a patient, I never draw a limitation. I always see this person in optimum health and vitality. I see radiance coming from them and always see them in a state of joy and happiness. You need to create this vision in your mind and hold it. At times it may become difficult to hold the picture, but nonetheless less this is what you must do.
chakra-bodyEverything you do must align with your overall picture of health and vitality. At times this may be difficult because your patients may be in pain, sick, hurting, and even more damaging, they may be complaining. Listening to a patient complain is one thing, as we want to be compassionate, but we must never buy into the the complaint. It is important that you as an Energy Healer never accept that things are static or unchangeable. You are a representative of the universe and the universe has no limitations.

So whether you are a Law of Attraction practitioner, a Golden Dawn or other magical community member, or an Energy Healer remember all of these are inter-connected. Even though each group accesses the power of their thoughts in different ways the same results are achieved. The Law of Attraction uses magic and healing. Magic uses the Law of Attraction and healing. Healing uses the Law of Attraction and magic. I encourage you to explore the resources in this article that you are not familiar with. Broadening your knowledge of attraction, magic, and healing techniques will empower you. Remember, control your thoughts; “As Above, so Below”. Expect results!

The Equal Arm Cross & Your Magic

June 30, 2013

By Robert Zink
G.H. Frater P.D.R.

The equal arm cross, many and great are it’s mysteries.
One truth that is often ignored is the fact that the vertical arm indicates our need for spiritual connection and the horizontal arm suggest our need to improve our physical world. We cannot do one without the other. The position of power is in the center of the cross. These two arms provide the synergy that allows one form of magic to help us connect with our Genius and one form of magic to help us get a job, new car, home etc. AND DON’T YOU DARE FEEL GUILTY FOR DOING MAGIC TO ADVANCE YOUR PHYSICAL STATE OR POSITION IN LIFE, anymore than you should feel guilty for connecting to the HIGHER.

E.O.G.D. Teachings on Typhon-Set

December 10, 2012

SetIn the universe there exists such a force, which is destructive in nature, breaking down all which lie in its path, leaving devastation in its wake. Its influence traverses the expanse of the universe; its impact is felt here on earth and expressed as disaster and storms. It also exists within us as individuals; it rises like a storm and wreaks havoc on our highest aspirations and it lays to waste the good we wish to create in our lives. This destructive force can make us our own worst enemy; it can cause us to act contrary to our own goals and interests, toppling the creation of our hands like a house of cards. It is subtle and insidious; it often appears to be well beyond our control, but in truth it is both our right and responsibility to place it under will. This force has been understood since the dawn of man; the Greeks named this phenomenon Typhon, the Egyptians called it Set and the Jews and Christians knew it as Satan or the Devil.

Typhon is said to have warred with Zeus, the benevolent ruler of the Olympic gods. Zeus through his strength and wisdom kept peace and order among the gods of Olympus and he banished the chaotic Titans to Tartarus, but his wife Hera became angry with him over this and vowed to bear a child apart from Zeus, so she brought forth Typhon from Gaia, the Earth and from Tartarus, the pit; he became the storms and the chaos, which plagued mankind. Notice that Zeus, Hera and Typhon seem to be from the same substance, the same family; they are related. If we let Zeus represent our Higher Genius, which banishes the chaotic, unbalanced forces, the Titans from our sphere of sensation, and Hera represents our ego, which could become angry at the loss of our former way of life, which changes at the banishment of the Titans, because life can seem more exciting with chaos in it and they can represent destructive habits that give pleasure. Then Typhon could represent the evil persona, particularly the Stooping Dragon, which incites the ego to look longingly at the world of Titans.

Typhon rises from the world of the Titans and reaches mankind through the Earth at the behest of Hera, the ego, married to Zeus, the Higher Genius. The Titans exist just below the Earth or beyond the throne of the West in the world of the Qliphoth, so our ego resists the calling of our Higher Genius and in doing so, opens the door way for our Evil Persona to enter our sphere of sensation through our earthly Nephesh or our animal nature, which seeks only fleshly gratification. Once in our sphere of sensation Typhon becomes the chaotic storm, which rages through our life, destroying all the good we wish to create; Typhon is even said to have injured Zeus taking some of his muscles or strength, thus the evil persona can for a time weaken the Higher Genius, but Zeus recovered and became stronger than before and defeated Typhon. (http://www.theoi.com/Gigante/Typhoeus.html) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhon )

The legend of Isis, Osiris, and Set is in essence a different aspect of the same story; Set is also believed to have been the god of chaotic storms and he was represented as having the head of various animals, which were feared and hated throughout Egypt. Osiris and Set were brothers and Isis was their sister and the wife of Osiris, so in this case also, they were of the same substance; they were related. Set hated Osiris, he killed his brother and tore him to pieces; Isis in mourning turned herself into a bird and flew over the land of Egypt collecting his remains. She brought him back to life and they bore the child Horus, who later avenged his father, defeating and banishing Set from Egypt. The relationship between Isis and Osiris is represented as a much closer one than that of Zeus and Hera, since they are siblings as well as a couple; Isis can represent the Higher Genius and Osiris, the perfected man, who undergoing death and resurrection emerges alchemically purified. This is the initiated candidate who finds union with his Higher Genius through trial and suffering. Horus can represent the lower self, brought under the will of the higher through alchemical fire, thus defeating the raging Set or the evil persona. In the story of Typhon, the ego gives license to the evil persona to run rampant through the sphere of sensation, thus progressing far enough to attack the Higher Genius and the natural world remains chaotic despite the banishment of the Titans. In the story of Set, the ego resists the evil persona and is broken down by it; the Higher Genius then resurrects the ego as perfected, and the ego places the lower nature under will and it is able to rule the natural world. However, the character of Typhon and Set represent the same factor: the aspect of the personality, which seeks to destroy one’s higher aspirations, and to create great havoc in one’s life. In fact, Typhon and Set are often mentioned as one and the same. (http://www.vibrani.com/gods.htm) (http://www.business-esolutions.com/starmyths/myths/typhonset1.htm) (http://www.theosophy-nw.org/theosnw/world/med/eg-imo3.htm)

The story of Satan is similar in many ways to the story of Set; Set was originally the ruler of Upper Egypt until he became evil, and Satan was believed to be the angel Lucifer and at one time he even watched over the Garden of Eden until he turned against God. Set hated his brother and killed him; Lucifer was a good angel, serving God and Christ before the fall and he hated Christ and ensured his Crucifixion. Both Osiris and Christ were raised from the dead more elevated than before, so both Lucifer and Set inadvertently advanced the alchemy of the one they hated. The evil persona hates the ego, which would resist its will, but it cannot defeat the ego, which submits to its Higher Genius; the ego is resurrected purified and stronger than ever before. Most of us vacillate between the role of Hera and Osiris, in that despite our best intentions, we sometimes give in to our lower natures and invite the chaos and storms, which follow on the heels of Set/Typhon, but when we pick ourselves up from the rubble, which we sometimes make of our lives, we can continue in the course of Osiris and one day reach our alchemical perfection. (http://members.aol.com/egyptart/seth.html)

The evil persona has been known to create chaos in people’s lives since early civilization: the Egyptians called it Set, the Greeks, Typhon and even to this very day many call it Satan. Although the names have changed, the concept has remained consistent throughout history: there exists an evil within us that must be resisted and alchemically brought under will, and this can only occur when one continuously pursues a bond with his or her Higher Genius. If you find yourself in a self destructive cycle wherein you never quite get what you want in life; where despite your best efforts things just seem to blow up in your face at some point, then you are a victim of this self defeating evil persona. The path of initiation is one powerful way of breaking this cycle and freeing yourself from the power of Set/Typhon. A Quote from the Portal initiation of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn:

“The 13th Key of the Tarot represents the figure of a skeleton, upon which some portions of flesh still remain.  In a field he is reaping off with the Scythe of Death the fresh vegetation which springs from corrupting bodies buried therein, fragments of which, such as hands, heads and feet appear above the soil.  Bones also are strewn upon the surface.  One of the heads wears a kingly crown; another is apparently that of a person of little note, showing that Death is the equalizer of all conditions.  The five extremities, the head, hands and feet, allude to the powers of the number five, the letter Heh, the Pentagram, the concealed Spirit of Life and the four elements, the originator of all living form.  The Sign of Scorpio especially alludes to stagnant and foetid water, that property of the moist nature which initiates putrefaction and decay.  The eternal change from life into death through death into life, is symbolized by the grass which springs from and is nourished by putrefying and corrupting carcasses; the herbiage, in its turn affords food to animals and man, which again when dead, nourisheth vegetable life and bring to growth and perfection the living herbiage.  This is further shown by the figure itself putrefying and decaying as it reaps the grass of the field.  ‘As for man, his days are as grass, as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.’  The top of the scythe forms the Tav Cross of Life, showing that what destroys also renews.

The whole is a representation of the eternal transmutation of the life of nature, which reforms all things into fresh images and similitudes.  This symbol represents the corrosive and destructive action of the infernal Fire as opposed to the Celestial, the Dragon of the Waters, the Typhon of the Egyptians, the slayer of Osiris, which later yet rises again in Horus.  The Scorpio, Serpent of Evil, delineated before the figure of Death in the more ancient form of the Key, refers to the mixed and transforming, therefore deceptive, nature of this emblem.  Behind him, is the symbol of the Nameless One, representing the seed and its germ, not yet differentiated into life, therefore incapable of definition.  The scorpion is the emblem of ruthless destruction; the snake is the mixed and deceptive nature, serving alike for good and evil; the eagle is the higher and Divine nature, yet to be found herein, the alchemical eagle of distillation, the Renewer of life.  As it is said: ‘Thy youth shall be renewed like the eagles.’  Great indeed, and many are the mysteries of this terrible Key.”

Quoted from Israel Regardie’s “The Golden Dawn”

“As the ‘V’ sign is made, the Adept says: ‘The Sign of Apophis and Typhon.’ These are other names for Set, the brother and murderer of Osiris.’” (pg. 13)

“The Invisible Station corresponding to the Yesod, the 9th Sephirah on the Tree of Life, immediately East of the Altar which is the upper region of Malkuth in the 0=0 temple, is the abode of a Set-like god-form associated with the Evil Triad and at the same time with a dark reptilian god associated with Typhon. He is the Accusor, the Evil Genius, who would bind the candidate’s soul in darkness with forces of the Qlippoth. In the Neophyte Initiation the Accusor rises from the base of the Altar at the time of the soul’s greatest danger.” (pg. 114)

“Omoo-Sathan, Typhon, Apophis, Set. The Evil Persona is a composite figure of the powers arising from the Qlippoth. It rises from the base of the Altar standing East of the Altar facing West, in the Sign of Typhon.” (pg. 357)

In light of the logical discussion on the nature of Typhon/Set and the above quotes from the Portal Initiation and Regardie’s manifesto on the Golden Dawn, it would be disastrous for a candidate to be initiated with Typhon/Set as the god form in the station of the Hierus. Having Horus in the throne of the Hierophant and Typhon/Set in the Hierus throne is a perfect formula for invoking the Evil Persona into the candidate’s sphere of sensation and sealing there. It is a recipe for disaster for the candidate, as it would be far more dangerous than passively allowing the evil persona to effect one’s life and create havoc; it creates a powerful ritual to fully integrate Typhon/Set’s destructive power into the very soul of the initiate. It would align one’s mind, heart and soul with the nature of Typhon/Set such that evil would seem good and good would seem evil and all good virtues and true magical power would be lost. In Golden Dawn tradition, there would be NO protection from the Qliphoth.

The Cornerstones of the Traditional Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn

December 9, 2012

People write us from time to time and ask us what the E.O.G.D. believes. This document was written several years ago by the Adepts of our Order.  They all signed this agreement as the basic foundations stones of our Order.

Zelator Initiation of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn

Zelator Initiation of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn

The Cornerstone of the Traditional Esoteric Order of the

Golden Dawn

Valid primarily for the Outer/First Order of the ESOTERIC ORDER OF THE  GOLDEN DAWN;

With some exceptions regarding but not defining the
Inner Order of the R.R. et A.C.

Man has evolved a great deal throughout the centuries; religion, commerce and government have all changed as mankind has grown and steadily improved his knowledge and humanity. Although man seems very different today than in times past, the soul or essence of man remains the same. As a species we seem to have roughly the same appearance, the same hopes and dreams; a part of us will never change. We are reflected by what we create; what we create evolves according our hopes and aspirations, but to create intelligently and consistently, the core of our creation must remain unchangeable even as our essence remains unchangeable throughout our evolution.

An organization behaves as a living thing, it will grow and change even as those individuals whom breathe life into it grow and change. The life and current, which flows through an organization, must attach itself to a core skeleton so to speak; this is why many governments today have a constitution, so that as the nation grows and changes, the essence remains unchanged and the people could rally behind the core belief system, on which the nation is based. This seems to work for any group of people, including the Golden Dawn tradition, if there are no core beliefs the individuals within the group will grow apart and form smaller factions. We have seen this within the Golden Dawn community over the past one hundred years: the Golden Dawn is capable of invoking great, healing Light into our sick and dying world; we can, as a group make a wonderful difference in the world with beautiful Hermetic, Rosicrucian tradition, but not if we are in discord. The current of the classical Golden Dawn, as well as other Golden Dawn groups, must grow and evolve around some basic core practices and beliefs or else we grow apart and become weak and bickering factions that cause little change in a world already brimming with weakness and bickering.

We as the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn must strive to maintain and uphold the principles of our predecessors; in particular, those principles established by S.L. MacGregor-Mathers. These provide the core beliefs and practices that will place all Golden Dawn practitioners within the same framework and will enable us to harmonize our energy and current. This does not imply that we should restrict our individuality, but it does mean that we must work within a framework that will give us the strength in numbers needed to maximize our human potential within an initiation school environment. If we cannot rally behind these basic tenets then we risk becoming small ineffective, isolated factions, and we risk the fate of mediocrity and placing the Golden Dawn as insignificant in the pages of history.

The following principles are guidelines that pertain to the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn; there are countless other Golden Dawn Groups who use modified or different symbolism, divine names, initiations and some have even placed Second Order teachings within the Outer Order. We simply are not, in any way suggesting that different Golden Dawn groups should not exist, nor are we suggesting that they are not part of the Great Work in whichever way seems beneficial to their members. What we are saying is that these principles will harmonize our collective current within the framework of the traditional Golden Dawn. While the inception of the original Order of the Golden Dawn is somewhat controversial and there are some in today’s occult community whom do not believe that there was any involvement of the Rosicrucian Fraternity in its creation, we hold the idea of a true, underlying Rosicrucian Current within the traditional Golden Dawn in the highest esteem. Thus, we will always defend as fact, that the inner core, the second or Inner Order, which governs the Golden Dawn in the Outer, was, is and must be Rosicrucian.

“The Imperatrix of the German Order, one Anna Sprengel, authorized the Englishmen to set up a British Chapter to be known as the Golden Dawn.” - David Conway, Ritual Magic

We are certain that the Cipher MSS and the Z-Documents are the most important papers, which constitute the rites and membership in the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn. Furthermore, we believe the true seeker of Light values spiritual lineage far more than mere paper lineage, and we do not believe that paper lineage is a requisite toward upholding Golden Dawn principles.

  • The Cipher Manuscripts are to be considered as the      raw basics of the Group’s rites or ritualistic framework. The      following specific, outlined instructions are to be followed verbatim. For      example:

-          The symbolism of the Scepter of the Hegemon. Quote from Folio 3 of the Cipher MSS:

“24. mitre headed scepter = religion & a guide”

  • The teachings of S.L. MacGregor-Mathers (G.H.      Frater D.D.C.F.) the primary teacher and Chief Adept of the Original      Golden Dawn remain unsullied within our Order. That is to say:

-          We will not under any circumstances regard as part of the traditional Golden Dawn system, the doctrine of dissidents such as Aliester Crowley and others like him. Although we realize that there are Golden Dawn practitioners whom may value and even implement such teaching, and we do not wish for our position to be construed as ridicule toward these; we do however hold firm that not all, which would represent itself as Golden Dawn is compatible with the traditional Golden Dawn system. We would defend the rights of others to present the Golden Dawn material as their worldview compels them to express it. We are simply clarifying what the traditional Golden Dawn cornerstone is for those seeking to practice it.

-          All mystical and religious doctrine taught by the original Golden Dawn Order will be implemented without exception by those who would retain the original GD current. Omission of any topic taught by S.L. MacGregor-Mathers, Chief Adept of the original Order would be inconsistent with classical GD.

-          We will under no circumstances abrogate the concept of  “good and evil” or the two contending forces.

-          “There are two contending forces and one, which unites them eternally, and two basal angles of the triangle and one which forms the apex.  Such is the origin of creation; it is the Triad of Life” (The Hierophant, 0=0 initiation)

-          In regards the Second Order: the inscription on the back of the Rose Cross lamen must read exactly as Mathers and the Rosicrucian tradition describes. (See attached lesson on the Rose Cross Lamen)

  • We are compelled uphold and follow the Z-      Documents verbatim.

The Z documents complete the Cipher MSS. The original Chief Adept, MacGregor Mathers, perfected his outlines of the rites and rituals of the Golden Dawn system in these documents. A quote from Ithell Colquhouns Book Sword of Wisdom (page 75) illustrates this:

“He (Westcott) commissioned Mathers to write-up the rituals into workable shape and himself began a correspondance with the adept.”

For example, 2 premises of the Z-Documents:

-          The Hierophant represents the ancient Egyptian God Osiris and thus invokes this God form prior to any initiation. Quote from Z1 “Enterer of the Threshold”:

“The G.D.’s Hall of the Neophyte is ruled over by Ousiri, through the office of the Hierophant. The G.D. Ousiri is the Expounder of the Sacred Mysteries”

-          The Hiereus represents the ancient Egyptian God Horus and thus invokes this God form prior to any initiation. Quote from Z1 “Enterer of the Threshold”:

“Far across the hall from the throne of Ousiri in the East, in the place symbolic of the greatest darkness, is enthroned Hoor, empowering the office of Hiereus. Hoor, the Coptic name of Horus (the younger) or Heru represents the guardian force, protecting the Hall.”

  • Politics have no place in the Esoteric Order of the      Golden Dawn. To clarify:

-          Members of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn regard each other as brothers and sisters and will not be divided by political issues. However, healthy discussions on any number of topics including politics are certainly encouraged.

-           Political issues cannot be allowed to be made a general Order statement or to interfere with the integrity of the Order.

-          Political agendas that pit one person against another, particularly on the basis of race or gender, must remain outside the Order’s doors.

  • Acceptance and respect of men and women on an      equal basis.

-          Every member of the Order is to be treated as if they were a true brother/sister, as if all shared the same father/mother.

-          Sexual harassment of any kind cannot be allowed to exist among brothers and sisters of the Light.

-          Sex-magic of any kind is not practiced in the traditional Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn. Confer Ithell Colquhoun, Sword of Wisdom, page 285:

“The magical system taught in the GD is to be classed as Theurgy, the Magic of Light, as distinct from all types of sex-magic and even exclusive of them.”

  • Respect towards all legitimate world religions and      other Golden Dawn Groups. For example:

-          While the Golden Dawn is not a religion in and of itself, it is governed by a strict creed of respect toward the Lord of the Universe.

-          It will not be presumed that a particular religion is right or wrong over another.

-          A religion must teach a deep respect toward the Lord of the Universe and a profound respect toward all people, other religions and all life in general. See folio 8 of the Cipher MSS:

“16. Never condemn other religions”

-     A particular Golden Dawn group, whether it is reformed, traditional or Thelemic will not be presumed as right or wrong over another.

  •  Practice and teaching of      healing techniques and rites for free. This means:

-          The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn seeks to elevate mankind in general. That is to say, we seek to help everyone reach his/her full potential.

-          Healing is a way of embracing the full potential within and extending it towards the outer world.

-          Healing circulates the Light, which we invoke. True expression of Light can only be through its circulation.

  • Practice of regular astral and/or physical 0=0      initiations in a full Temple setup.

-          Initiation is a form of sowing seeds of Light into the world.

-          Astral initiation, as practiced by the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn, is to be considered as equally effective as physical initiation. To quote MacGregor-Mathers:

“Believe thyself there and thou art there.”

S.L. MacGregor Mathers

“That which is above is also that which is below, and that which is below is also that which is above.” (The Emerald Tablet)

-          We must constantly invoke Light and one very important method toward achieving this is full temple initiation.

-          The continuous influx of Light stimulates alchemical growth in individuals and for the group as a whole.

  • Every member of our Group must have signed an Oath      of Secrecy prior to his/her 0=0 initiation. This guarantees the      following:

-          The integrity of our Order will be preserved.

-          The Great Work may remain concealed within the candidate. Thus breaking this oath would spoil the alchemical process within the initiate.

-          The secrets within our Order are a cherished treasure within our heart and soul. They can only be shared with one who will commit toward ascribing the same value that we place upon it.

-          Sharing the sacred knowledge of the Order with anyone who would place little or no value on it debases this knowledge and the one whom carelessly divulges it.

  • Membership without due initiation (physical and/or  astral) is not possible.

-          The Light can only be passed from one to another.

-          Where this all began is anybody’s guess although all Light comes from the ultimate source: the Lord of the Universe.

-          The above-mentioned alchemical process can only commence if the inner alembic is hermetically sealed, which is accomplished by the 0=0 initiation.

  • A fully established Second Order. The following principles are to be followed:

-          The Inner Order is separate and distinct from the outer Golden Dawn Order.

-          The Inner Order is Rosicrucian and is deeply rooted in Christian beliefs, symbolism and tradition.

-          This is not subject to change; Rosicrucian tradition is inherently Christian and it cannot be diluted and yet remain part of the traditional egregore. To do so would be to nullify its very essence, which we see as the latent representation of I.A.O. (Birth-Death-Resurrection)

  • A strict hierarchy. This means:

-          There is ONE Chief Adept for the Group as a whole. He/She may appoint up to two Co-Chiefs (most Second Orders have 2 Co-Chiefs).

-          He/She is not necessarily identical with the Imperator of the Temple.

-          To him/her are all Outer and Inner Order members loyal.

  • Any initiatory Temple of our Group must have at      least two members of the Inner Order.

-          The Z-Documents indicate that two Inner Order Members are necessary to form a working initiating vortex of Light.

-          According to the Z-Documents, the Hierophant must be a member of the Inner Order.

-          Equally, according to the Z-Documents, there must be a member of the dais (Imperator, Cancellarius or Premonstrator) present at any initiation. These are members of the Second Order. Quote from Folio 2 of the Cipher MSS:

“6. Adepts sit on a raised place

(Smaller temples may find this difficult and will have to adjust by having white chairs)
7. with the Hierophant
8. incense should be burning
9. in the temple at all ceremonies
10. three chiefs each 5=6 should
11. hold a template
12. one of whom must be present
13.at all ceremonies”

  • The veil between the Outer and Second Order must be      strictly maintained. This is to say:

-          That in spite of any publication in the past, present or future, the teachings of the original Inner Order must remain with very minor exceptions within the Rosicrucian Order and completely concealed from the Outer Order.

-          Whether a member of the First or Outer Order has passed through the veil toward the Inner Order will be revealed through taking the office of the Hierophant or of one of the daises.

-          Order secrecy is strongly emphasized in the 0=0 ceremony.

We regard the above tenets as valid and rooted in the Esoteric Golden Dawn tradition as delineated and practiced by S.L. McGregor-Mathers. This document is part of an ongoing effort to revitalize the classic Golden Dawn spirit, and to rally all Golden Dawn practitioners behind the core beliefs, practices and principles that give structure, strength and power to our magical work. The above tenets are in no way meant to stifle individuality, nor is it meant to cast differing groups in dubious light: it is meant to consolidate the staggering potential of the Esoteric Golden Dawn and to focus it into one powerful healing ray.

As a species, we are ever changing and growing and what we create reflects this, but some things must remain unchanged in order for growth to be structured and for it to accomplish our will and aspiration. It is our hope that all Golden Dawn groups with their various individual characteristics will join forces in bringing healing energy into the world. While we respect the differing and varied opinions held by other groups, we firmly believe that following the classic Golden Dawn Tradition as taught by S.L. McGregor-Mathers will harmonize our collective current and give us tremendous power and structure in bringing great and wonderful changes into this sick and dying world.

HEGEMON:  “Inheritor of a dying world, we call thee to the living beauty.”

HIEREUS:  “Wanderer in the wild Darkness, we call thee to the gentle Light.”

HIEROPHANT:  “Long has thou dwelt in the darkness, quit the night and seek the

day. “

The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn Oral Tradition

December 4, 2012

magicianThe Golden Dawn Oral Tradition

One of the deeper mysteries of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn is the vast oral tradition that our Order conserves.

Most practitioners of the Golden Dawn tradition are under the impression that all that is known about the Order has been printed in a book and is available for anyone to read. Some seem to believe that, if you own the book concerning the Golden Dawn by Israel Regardie, you have the mother lode of Golden Dawn information. This is simply not true. The Golden Dawn is very much like the ancient  mystery schools who only taught  the most trusted  of students the deeper inner secrets of magic, that have been passed on from one mentor to another over the centuries.

Between the Inner Order of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn and the Outer Order, it has been estimated that upwards of 70% of the Inner Mysteries of the Magic of Light are passed on orally from mouth to ear. This is called the oral tradition and finds its roots in the Holy Kaballah.

I  taught a verbal mystery and magical method to a student once and he commented that he had just been taught the same techniques by an inner guide.  This confirmed to me and to him that the time was now for him to begin applying this new form of magic.  He proceeded with his new technique and the results were outstanding according to him.  This is a simplistic example of the Golden Dawn oral tradition.

There are two reasons for having an oral tradition:

1. The first is the more practical of the two. In earlier times, everything needed to be written down by hand. Often, stronger techniques or more intense information was simply never relegated to paper, since doing so could be dangerous for uninitiated people who read the documents.

2. The second reason was and is the more important. This reason revolves around the fact that the deeper secrets of our Order are passed directly from mentor to student. The student who displayed maturity, trust and devotion to the Great Work and the Magic of Light was and is given access to this vast oral tradition and, as such, became more capable of causing reality to conform to Divine Will and to provide healing and Light in an often dark and mundane world.

Of course, having access to this vast storehouse of the oral tradition is not for everyone. Most are happy to browse Golden Dawn materials which are available to the public. However, if you are different and feel a call to bring Light into your world as well as the world around you, then we would be glad to consider you for membership in the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn. The EOGD  has a vast oral tradition.  Our tradition is tied directly into the great teachers of the past such as S.L. Mac Gregor Mathers.  Our storehouse of knowledge comes from the four corners of the globe and has been codified into a workable system of  magic.   While some schools are focused on philosophy, our Order is the foremost guardian of the Magic of Light.  We are deeply involved in the training of magicians.  We believe that true magicians have access to divine and spiritual power, and serve not only themselves but  humanity on some level. The oral tradition of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn is a power and impressive advantage over many of the upstart groups and Orders of which some claim the name Golden Dawn or variation thereof

Enochian Angelic Evocation & the Golden Dawn

November 6, 2012

Guest Writer,  V.H. Soror V

The power of Golden Dawn Magic is found within the system of ceremonial magic, but not limited to ceremonial magic alone.  The ability to invoke, and command spirit to provide secret information is expressed within the teachings of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn.

Enochian Magic is a power system of magical and angelic invocation.  Most people even today do not understand how to awaken these powerful latent forces into the physical plane.  The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn with their verbal tradition provides this link for the student of the Sacred Mysteries.

. Esoteric Golden Dawn Enochian Magic  is based on the 16th century writings of Dr. John Dee and Edward Kelley, who discovered that their information was delivered to them directly by various angels. Dee’s journals contained the Enochian script, and the table of correspondences that goes with it.

Dee and Kelly’s work is based on the claims found in the apocrypha works of the writings of Enoch.  This book is so revered that it is quoted by Saint Jude in the Bible.  Many scholars feel that this book should have been included in the cannon of holy scripture.

The Golden Dawn system of Enochian Angelic Evocation  differs from the core work of Dee and Kelly.  One reason is that Dee and Kelly were so busy invoking new information that they never had the time to codify their information.  It was not until years later that  G.H. Frater D.D.C.F. also known as MacGregor Mathers  under the direction of the Holy Spirit organized the information into a working magical system.  Mathers was a scholar in occult studies and he almost immediately could see the connection with the Enochian sytem of Angelic Evocation with the traditional teaching s of the Qabalah and the Sacred  Mysteries.

S.L. MacGregor Mathers created a brilliant synthesis of Enochian magic, Qabalistic magic, Planetary Magic, Egyptian God Forms, and Golden Dawn use of lineal figures and flashing colors to create an unsurpassable system of Western magic that is also partly expressed in the Enochain system of Angelic Evocation .

Sadly, MacGregor Mathers passed away before he could ever finish the same integration applied to rest of the Enochain system of magic, in particular the Angels of the Boronoum and the certification of which sub Angels of the Watchtower are to be invoked  for what specific magical task. Imperator General and Chief Adept of the Second Order, G.H. Frater P.D.R. ( Robert Zink )continues to take on the daunting task of following in MacGregor Mathers  footsteps.  Now the adepts of the Second Order of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn are no longer beginning from scratch, they fully understand which angels should be invoked for the magical task at hand.  In addition, Robert Zink has bridged the gap between the vault of the Adepti and the good Angels of the Boronorum.  There is still work to be done.  .  G.H. frater P.D.R. and the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn will continue to move  forward with advanced teachings in Enochian Magic, some of which is written, and some of which is oral.

Golden Dawn Initiation. Find the Right Order.

November 3, 2012

People join magical Orders for various reasons.  Some simply want a group of like-minded people to build a social group with.  I believe it is important to examine what your reasons for wanting to join and be initiated in the Golden Dawn.

Many people are under the false belief that a local lodge or Temple would be best for them.  This may be true if a social group is your primary objective.  There are other reasons to join a local lodge as well.  However, there is one serious reason to not join a local group, and join an Order that is empowered to teach the mysteries of Light and practical Golden Dawn magic, and that reason is to learn and practice Magic.

The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn trains people in the Magic of Light and practical Golden Dawn Magic.  We build Magicians.

The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn is about training.  In 2013 we will have several three-day weekends called Golden Dawn Boot camps.  These are 15 hour days of serious Golden Dawn magical training in practical Magic. You will not find anything like this anywhere else in the world.  70% of the teachings of the EOGD are taught in the tradition of mouth to ear, or the verbal Qabalah.  In addition, our members are offered a private forum with daily teachings and postings.  On top of that we have on-line classes, on a weekly basis and several other events including 2013 Power Week.  Our students receive 24 hour guidance and teachings.  We are a magical Order, and magic takes hard work, and we work hard at working for you.

Compare this to the old Temple of Isis in Baldwin Park California.  Most of the members are Catholics.  The Temple heads have added several Catholic prayers and Catholic workings to their rituals.  They are focused on group events rather than personal one on one teachings and training.  One recent high grade member who has been an officer told me, “ They are burnt out at Isis, they hardly want to do the work at all.”

Now if you are a Catholic and want to do prayers to the saints and the Virgin Mother, (Nothing wrong with that ) then this Temple is right for you, but if you want to learn serious Golden Dawn Magic, that is not taught in the books, then the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn will  be a better choice for you, even  if you live next door to the old Temple of Isis in Baldwin Park.

These kinds of examples exist all over the world.  You need to consider your motives for wanting to become an initiate in the Golden Dawn.  For some, the Temple next door will work out just fine, but if you are serious about your magic, and want to do the work, then the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn is your primary choice.

Golden Dawn Magick of Light

October 21, 2012

Robert Zink is G.H. Frater P.D.R. and Imperator of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn

Golden Dawn Ritual Magick is an in-depth and elaborate form of magical meditation which overcomes the lower tendency of the mind to turn outward by employing sights, sounds, scents, and emotion.  The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn teaches that, “by Names and Images are all powers awakened and reawakened.”  Thus the symbols, furnishings, officers, robes, tools, incense, dramatization of a rite, etc., are used to stimulate and focus the mind and the will toward the higher purpose of the Spirit. This is called conversation with the Holy Guardian Angel.  Every sight, sound, word and movement within the physical or astral Temple are an outward reflection of an inward alchemical reality. Many of these truths are based on the sacred teachings of  Hermes, some on the Zohar and others on the Bible.

Golden Dawn magick which includes Hermetics, Theurgy, Qabalah, Tarot, and Gnosticism to name a few, is one of the most complete systems of esoteric spirituality in the World.  The magical process involved effect each individual in a deep inward personal way which awakens latent forces within.  The   Initiations open the individual up to  Divine and specific experience relative to their own personal nature in order to bring about changes to align one with their own Higher Divine Genius.

Magical Rituals indeed focus ones mind on a specific purpose and open one to paradigm shifts within their own sphere of sensation.  The formula for Magical work when broken into different levels reveals a consecration of the ritual space, a statement of purpose followed by an invocation of specific forces such as Planetary, Zodiacal, Qabbalistic, Angelic, etc…  These forces are set in motion to bring about specific changes as stated in the intention of the rite.  The rite is then concluded with gratitude and a dismissal of any beings or forces invoked.

The participants in the ritual choose symbolism that is in harmony with the intention of the working.  All the magical implements and accessories such as robes, banners, wands, incense, etc., are carefully coordinated to fit consistently into the symbolism.  Correspondences from various Religions and Spiritual contexts are used to organize the symbolism of the Ritual in a coherent way to give the mind a focal point and increase the intent of the magical operation.

Magick is a Spiritual tool for opening the mind and heart of the candidate to higherDivine forces within nature and provides a unique system for tapping into ones highest potential and making deep inner connections with the Divine.  The possibilities are endless when combined with the focus of ones imagination.  Initiation is just the first step; magic itself opens one to the hidden forces surrounding themselves and the world around them.  The Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn  provides a specific course of study which brings an individual to as high as their aspirations may guide them. We give our students all the support and training they need to succeed.

Golden Dawn Boot Camp…Some don’t like the Name.

October 19, 2012

Members of the Golden Dawn Community,

We are in the process of selecting four dates for 2013 for our 3 day intensive. We call it the Golden Dawn Boot Camp.  We noticed in the blogging world that some do not like the name.  Good!  We want to communicate that this will be more work, more learning, more teaching, more active participation by students that one can imagine.  Expect 15 hours a day of astonishing magical secrets communicated to the four people that are attending, working, and invoking.  There will be no long meals whereby the armchair types can “kabitz”  for hours on theories that mean very little in everyday life.  We understand the negative connotations that the name “Boot Camp” might have to some people”  Our goal is to make this three day weekend the most positive, life changing, magical experience possible.

Another Blogger wrote the following:

“There are times I notice that I am not part of Robert Zink’s target audience. Today is one of them. On his Golden Dawn Blog, he mentions a series of three day extensive Golden Dawn training sessions that is being set up for members of the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn.

Three days…four students…no sight-seeing…and he calls it “Golden Dawn Boot Camp.”

The author of this blog  goes on to say that he does not want to see the word boot camp mixed with the words Golden Dawn.  We firmly know that this, camp will not be for the author of the blog or most people.  Becoming part the the U.S Navy Seals is not for most people and entails a great deal of personal commitment. But for those who feel compelled to immerse themselves in a powerful three day training session, then the Golden Dawn Boot Camp might be right for you. So to those who do not like the name or the three days of high level training, are right, you are not part of the target audience.  This is practical magic, 15 hours a day, no grade limitations, hard work and effort.  This will be a three day event four times in 2013 that will be limited to 4 people.  This is one on one mentoring.  There is back-up support as well, a special forum and more.

If  the Golden Dawn Boot Camp is something you are interested in and you have the brass to take it on, then write us at:  esotericgoldendawn1888@gmail.com

Tell us a bit about yourself and your Order affiliation.

I personally have run more Temples and started more Temples then most people in the GD community today.  I am tired of the politics, the dating, the in-fighting, the grade swaggering.

I am looking for 4 people that want to really focus on practical magic.  There are good things to be said about Temple membership, but there are a host of people in temples who as Regardie said,

The Winter Vigil and the Magic of Light.

December 20, 2011

By Robert Zink

Back in the early 90′s, I wanted to take the focus of magic and place it not only on the self, yearning to unite with the Higher Genius, but I also felt that part of our work as Adepts was service to humanity.  This idea seemed at the time in harmony with early Rosicrucian concepts and so over a series of event and rituals our Order moved in the direction to a level of stronger service to humanity.  In this blog, I will not go into all the missions we participated in, but suffice it to say that our Second Order was very active in everything from feeding the hungry to peace in the Middle East.

I believed then, as I do now, that our magical skills can and should be used to touch other lives for good.  This is one of the reasons why my students are taught how to use the magic of Light for healing–both physical and spiritual.  This is one of the reasons I have studied healing from every credible source I could find.  I believe that magic has a much greater role than what most people give it credit for.

I wanted a ritual that could be done over a 24-hour period.  I designed a magical Vigil that adepts and higher grade members can and have done for several years now.  It  is called the Winter Solstice Vigil.  This Vigil is done over a 24 -hour period.  We simply call it the “Winter Vigil. ” Each year, a purpose is decided on and the adepts will focus on that purpose for 24 hours.  It is an amazing event! There are specific rubrics to the magical Vigil; while they have changed from time to time, it is still based on a magical rites being invoked hourly for 24 hours.

I am convinced that magic is beginning to make some movement back into mainstream society.  I think this is good.  As Crowley said, “Magic is for all.”  The word magic is  wearing a variety of disguises from the Law of Attraction to positive thinking, but the concepts are somewhat the same. I also believe that if we want the teachings of Hermes and Magic to play a greater role in our society for the greater good, then we need to devote some magical time to helping and serving others.  The Winter Vigil is such a rite.
